Title: DNS problems - lame server
Post by: Steve on August 19, 2003, 12:27:58 AM
I have a 5.6 server that worked fine for awhile.  I recently reinstalled it (b/c I had a lot of rpm's that I had tested).  Now on the clean install, I'm having a lot of DNS problems.  Squid says it can find DNS, and the DNS on the network no longer works.  I had to manually set the LAN computers to an external DNS server.

However, it seems to work on some.  It's just hit and miss.  Also, how do I turn off squid?  I don't really need proxy in this setup.  I don't remember it being on by default in my last setup.

I checked the message log and there were numerous entries similar to the following:

Aug 18 14:26:53 server01 named[1977]: lame server resolving 'ns1.trueweather.com' (in 'trueweather.com'?): 216.173.224.70#53

(this is dedicated server/gateway setup with cable modem)

Thanks!
