I have atempted to load SME 5.6 on systems that use the 8235 southbridge chip, and can not get it to complete. Is there some way to apply the patches to the ISO or is there something I am missing. I do non know how to re-compile the kernal yet, but I will learn.
Does SME 6.0 support the via 8235 southbridge chip?

I think I may have found the answer to my question. I guess I could set up a box that does not have the via chip, apply the patches, and then either make an ISO from it, or use it as server to do a net install ( this will be a severe learning experience)

I don't know, but if you try it, you'll find out, and you can let everyone know. FWIW, I expect 6.0beta3 to work.

Charlie,
Is 6.0B3 stable enough ? I have not seen any news lately, and would like to try it, but this is on cusomers equipment, and I don't need any crashes. 5.6 is stable. My customers are not dooing anything trick, just using it as a file sereve and gateway. At this point they are not even using the mail server.
