Title: Spam Suggestions?
Post by: Paul F on August 26, 2003, 12:27:20 PM
Is it possible/practical to someway filter spam through an SME box when the mail is hosted on a different server?

Something like ISP > SME GATEWAY FILTER > CLIENT

Thanks for any ideas!

Have you tried the delegate mail server option?     If the spam filter you are using scans mail at the mail queue, then mail would get scanned prior to being forwarded to the "CLIENT" for delivery.

Nope but I will get right on that?

Now when you say "If the spam filter you are using" (which at this point is none) are you suggesting something like spamassin?

Thanks!

Spamassassin is about the best spam filter I've seen.  I'd recommend it.

excellent thread on this at http://www.e-smith.org/bboard//read.php?f=3&i=34149&t=34149

it's a bit long, but read through ALL of it twice and you will get to grips with it
