Title: blocking certain users access to the internet - how?

Hi,

I need to block internet access for some of the users on ny network, but I'm not sure how to do it?Plz. help

We are running SME 5.6u4 in server-gateway mode.

Using squid proxy if you search here using squid proxy you will find that this has been posted before

I might need a bit more help than "using squid proxy".

I'm still quite a newbie to many linux commands, terms etc.

I'm sure you could do this with Squidguard or Dansguardian.

I think Stephan Noble put together a Dansguardian contrib for SME 5.6.  Have a look at dungog.net

Look on contribs.org Cyrus Bharda has Squidguard there.

give the machines a bogus default gateway

LOL yeah, that would be the easy way, if they are not to tech savy they would not figure it out either.

and "if they are not to tech savy" then they shouldnt be trying to do something like this right?
