Title: MII-TOOL don't work anymore since SME 5.0??
Post by: Lightman on August 29, 2003, 06:35:04 PM
Hello List.

I was trying to use the mii-tool program that comes with the SME versions,
however after SME 5.0 this program gives me an error message:

SIOCGMIIPHY on 'eth0' failed: Invalid argument
SIOCGMIIPHY on 'eth1' failed: Invalid argument
SIOCGMIIPHY on 'eth2' failed: Invalid argument
------(and keep going until eth7)------
no MII interfaces found

Now I wonder, it's a program problem or configuration?, I tried running
this on several servers with the following NIC combinations:
3Com905Tx-B & 3Com905Tx-C
3Com905Tx-B & Davicom9102
3Com905Tx-B & Macronix 98715
Macronix98715 & Davicom9102
Davicom9102 & RTL8139

My Sme version is 5.5 but I had the same error with 5.1.2
any ideas?.

any link that I can take a look to figure it out?, since this is a very
useful tool to see remotely if a NIC lost link, etc.

I did a search to the forums but can't find any comment about it.

thanks in advance ;-)
