Greeting,
  Does X-Windows work on E-smith 4.1.2 ?
How do you configure it to work with it?

As standard the X windows libraries/binaries are not installed on the E-Smith server as standard. You probably could install them yourself.

Could you tell me how to install the xwindows libraries

Will xwindows mess anything up using it on a e-smith server?

Well, start by getting a RedHat 7.0 CD, and pretty much install anything that says XFree86 from there.  Can't imagine why you'd want to do this, though, as it'd really defeat the purpose of the e-smith system.

I concur with Dan.  The purpose of e-smith is to be a server and gateway, not a desktop machine.  While you probably could install X on it, it will be fiddly and may cause incompatibilities with the e-smith architecture, security weaknesses, or any of a number of other undesirable things.  e-smith is not designed to be a desktop system, and we strongly advise against trying to use it as such.  The best thing is to have two separate machines, one for each purpose.
