Title: 5.6 Update 5 and Bugzilla
Post by: NTBlade on September 22, 2003, 06:26:17 PM
Hi,
I'm running bugzilla 2.14.6 on an e-smith 5.6 server.  I applied Update 5 this morning (after performing a full backup) and after rebooting I was unable to access the bugzilla dtabase functions.  The upgrade had changed the file ownership settings of the files in the primary ibay /html directory and subdirectories.
Now,  should I report this to Mitel?
Also,  I've reset the ownership to root:www  Does anyone have any opinion or advice on the the security of this action?  The server is private and only viewable form three internal netwoks.

Many thanks for any help

I don't think that's a security issue, since the updates render the permissions to the default install setting. I had this problem, mostly with PHP scripts that required me to change change ownership or permissions for certain folders/files. I really think at most it's a minor nuisance. I did not prove it yet, but I believe it's the SAMBA updates that cause this to happen.

Thanks for your reply Ralph.
I agree it isn't a major hassle but I did panic for an hour or so!!
