Title: Server hardware
Post by: Michael Schmidt on September 29, 2003, 12:36:57 PM
Hello,

I want to set up a new server with SME. Is the following hardware supported by SME-Server?

Processor: 2x Intel XEON 2,4 GHz/512kB Cache
RAM:        4x512MB PC266 DIMM
Board:       Intel SE7501HG2; DualXeon, PCI 3 x 64Bit+3x32Bit, 2xLAN;SCSI
Raid:         Intel SRCU42L; 64Bit PCI; Raid 0,1,5,10; 64MB
HDD:         4xSeagate Cheetah 73,4 GB, 10k, U320, 4.7ms

I want to run raid 5, the server is server only.

Thanks for your help.

Greets
Michael

Check the Redhat site for supported hardware for RH7.x then determine which (if any) version of SME will work - with this spec I'd guess 6b3 would be your best bet

Thanks for the fast answer.
I checked the RedHat-Site and it looks goot. I'll give it a try.

Yesterday I installed sme 6.0b3 on our new server.

Must say: It runs like a dream! Thanks to mitel for the really great job! :-)

But for the ultimate happyness I want to use my second 1000MB-nic in the SAME network like eth0 (i.e. eth0 192.168.1.1, eth1 192.168.1.2). But I think this isn't possible, is it?
