Title: Disk Partitioning

Having run out of disk space on my HDD, I cloned the disk onto a bigger HDD by using "dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdb".  This created a perfect copy of my old HDD.  The trouble is that it copied the old partition size so that, as far as SME is concerned it has just the same amount (or lack) of space.  

I then used a disk partition utility to resize hda3 which is the main partition.  This appeared to work fine and SME duly booted up from the new disk.  However, although the partition program reports a much bigger partition, SME still thinks it has a much smaller one.  phpSysInfo confirms this.

I have had a fair old look at the forum but I can't see anything quite like this.  Does anyone know where I am going wrong?

You don't say which disk partition utility you used.

I have had occasion to do this with Partition Magic 8. Other software may also work, but I can vouch for PQmag8 on ext3.

I had used a bit of freeware (=beware, in this case)  - I'm now the proud owner of Partition Magic 8 which did the trick.  Thanks for the tip.
