Title: routing between subnets
Post by: Tim on October 08, 2003, 11:19:09 PM
Hi All can anyone help me I am running sme5.6 and want to use it as a router between 2 subnets at our location. Both are on our LAN. It won't be connecting to the internet. I tried to add it as a local network, but I can't see the second subnet to use the other nic as a gateway. So the server-manager doesn't install it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Tim

why don't you use a hardware-router when the job is only to route two subnets?

in my eyes it is dissipation (waste of time and money) to set up a server for this lazy job. the hardware router is designed for this and may do the job better...

cheers klaus

e-smith isn't really meant for this. Try Freesco

http://www.freesco.org/

on a 486 no hdd.
