Title: Compiling RPM
Post by: rik on October 13, 2003, 08:05:27 PM
Hello everyone!

I need some suggestion how to build openSSH and proftpd errata packages from rpm.src for SME 5.5.

Any feedback will be appreciated!

To build RPMs is a little tricky...

You better do some reading before you start testing stuff... Start with
http://www.rpm.org/RPM-HOWTO/

After all your reading you will need devtools
http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/saco/contrib/devtools_SME6.0/

so that you can build your RPMs as you wished.

...in addition to what ergin proposed

A book from  at Edward C. Bailey at Redhat:
http://www.redhat.com/docs/books/max-rpm/index.html
did help me quite a bit...

But personally I'd recommend to take it as a "hint" and upgrade to 6.0 (if you can that is)
...works like a charm for me :-)
