Title: Mail Log File Analysis Time Frame?
Post by: Cyrus Bharda on October 28, 2003, 09:58:33 AM
Hello,

I have only just started using the reports grenerated by this part of the server-manager and was wondering what sort of time period does the reports cover, Days, Weeks, Months, Years, Decades?

There are a couple of posts that ask this question but have not been answered so just trying to get the definitive answer.

Running SME 5.6u5.

Thanks,

Cyrus Bharda

As best as I can determine, logs are rotated weekly, so what you see in a current log file is one weeks worth of data.
The system keeps 4 weeks worth of old logs and then trashes them

Many logs are managed by multilog, and are rotated when they get to a particular size (you can tell which by the most recent being called "current"). How soon they are rotated is determined by how fast they grow.

Charlie,

So basically the reports are based on all of the log files in the /var/logs/qmail directory right?
