Title: Upload files speed is very slow.
Post by: Shayne Gould on October 30, 2003, 01:37:01 PM
When I upload files to the Mitel Server 5.5 it is really slow in Mac OS 9 but in OS 10 it is fast and also from PC's it is fast. Downloading the same files is fast across all O.S's. All connections have been made via chooser menu.

Any Ideas ???

Could it be that the network settings are different in 9 than 10?

Just a thought

Network speed problems can be caused by a mix of half and full duplex settings.
If you are attached to a hub, ensure all devices are half-duplex.

Hi!

I've had the same problem, with two 3C905B network cards in the e-smith box. Just fixed it by running 3Com's diagnostic utility 3c90xcfg.exe (http://www.3com.com/products/en_US/result.jsp?selected=5&sort=effdt&sku=3C905B-TX&order=desc) after booting from a DOS disk. Set both cards to 100M media (instead of the default auto-sensing), and then network transfers are perfect.

Perhaps other cards could be set to 100M instead of auto-sensing in the same way. Of course, the e-smith box must plug into a switch, not a hub.

Cheers, John
