Title: Nailed by Rogers!!! aka I hate spammers!!!
Post by: Tommy Tong on December 03, 1999, 12:57:43 AM
I had been blissfully happy running 3.0 until...

It turns out that somebody was using my poor little P60 e-smith box to spam. Now I am scared.
Will 3.1 be secure enough. I am just a poor student with a couple of roommates that also have
computers in their room and don't want to have to buy a hardware solution for internet sharing
when I was perfectly happy with the performance I had been getting.

What do the wise sages out there think?

Is there an easy way to just shut off all the e-mail stuff? We all just use hotmail anyway--although
I do check my @home mail periodically too.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Tommy,

We're very sorry to hear that this happened to you. We hate spammers with a passion.

Please apply the latest patches for 3.0 (see the download part of our web site for details) and your system will be secure from this type of attack.

Version 3.1 is equivalent to version 3.0 with all patches applied, and is also safe from this attack.

Best regards,
- Joe Morrison
