Title: Business Vision 32
Post by: Steve on June 16, 2001, 02:14:35 AM
Has anyone used e-smith as a file server for  Business Vision 32. Business Vision Systems Inc say it is essential that we use dedicated file server and not a peer to peer network. NT Server, Win 2000 Server and Novell are recommeded. Business Vision is a Windows multi user accounting/management package. I have installed it on e-smith 4.1.2 and it seems to work well. Now, Business Vision's tech people say " use BV on linux file server at your own risk". The BV documention on states that all users must have Read, Write, Create, Erase, Modify and File Scan rights to the data directory. Should I be concerned about using e-smith as a file server with BV. Any insight would be much appreciated.

Short answer no.  Install BV into an ibay, granting the correct rights to the correct group and make sure you implement a good daily backup strategy.  Standard recommendations.
