Title: su password fails, root works
Post by: mike mattos on November 11, 2003, 02:37:38 AM
I have a 5.5 system that I feared had been compromised, so I just did a "single" restart,  and changed the root and admin password

most users do not have shell access, and only my own account has remote secure access.

however, what raised my fears was inability to su from my own account, & changing the root password didn't fix this.  At the console, the root password works, but I cannot su with the same password!

IPTraf says the system isn't broadcasting.

One other anomaly, the libroc.so file permissions were turned off for users, just worked for root!

ALL suggestions appreciated

thanks

mike
