Title: PPTP Routing
Post by: Chris Mingay on November 11, 2003, 03:09:09 PM
Hi, I appear to be having some trouble with PPTP routing. Here is what happens.

I establish a PPTP connection to the SME server and it assigns me an IP address (eg 192.168.0.248).
I ping the SME server's internal IP address (192.168.0.73) and get a response.
I ping other machines on the internal network, request timeout.

Here is the dodgy part.
Once connected, I try telnetting on the SMTP port to another E-mail server on the network, a windows NT box running Mdaemon (192.168.0.80), however, the SME box responds.

Any idea why this would happen? SME 6.0b3
Thanks!
-Chris

Cheers for the replies you two.

Sorted in the end, I dunno why, but routing the machines I wanted to ping, through the external interface seems to make it work!

On doing this, I could ping anything I wanted and the SMTP telnet worked fine.

Thanks again
