Title: Flood of "MAILER-DAEMON" - can it be stopped?
Post by: David Bakody on November 13, 2003, 06:24:32 PM
I don't have an open relay.

Spammer scumbags have evidently been forging emails coming from my domain, so I'm getting flooded with bounces.

Is there a straightforward way to stop this flood or reject/bounce the bounces at the gate?

If they are all to a specific address remove it and they will bounce. Or you could install user manager from dungog and use procmail to either put all emails containing a certain subject, recipient email, sender email, custom header filed into a folder or even just delete them.

I have just noticed at the bottom of the criteria list it says "from a mail daemon" cant have looked much further that subject before (use it to sort mail from lists).

Although be careful about using the MAILER-DAEMON text or the last option as they will presumably deal with legitimate bounces from wrong address etc.
