Greetings all,
I am about to install an SME server on a customers site. The local PCs all run XP Pro. The server will be a part of a workgroup, not a domain controller and its prime function will be as a file server, email server and web server.
In the past I have had good success with v5.6 - my own business runs on it and apart from a faulty HD I have never had a problem with it.
My question is this - would you recommend the use of v6.03 beta in this situsation or would you stick with the tried an test 5.6?
Thanks in adavance,
Dave

If you use a stock SME server, then IMHO...6.0b3+updates

I provide email and web hosting services for a number of clients.
I was running 5.6 for a long time with no problems, however, I really wanted the port forwarding to function...I could not get it to work on 5.6
I installed 6.0 beta 3, immediately did all updates, did my restore from desktop. Installed awstats and I am up and running with port forwarding, etc.
It is works awesome, and I am very happy with it. The webmail is much improved too.

Hello Dave
SME 6.03b (with all updates made) is absolutely stable. I have running 3 site-installations with about 25 hi-load clients (architecture) with NO PROBLEMS!
One site is also running 4 laser-printers and 1 A0-Plotter on the same SME.
My experience says: Go ahead, You will get a stable situation.
Good Luck
Stefan
