I've used the tool and help at http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/star/mitel/contrib/phpproject/ to install phpproject. But it seems its an older version compared to the one at phpproject.com.
I'd really appreciate if anyone could help me upgrade. There's some very usefull new features that I need in the new version.
Thanks in advance!

Think I will install phpproject on my server... The version you have tested, what were missing ?? (Modules, functions, etc). The demo at phpproject looks really great .. Will try to install the newer version if there is any strong reason to do that. Just now just curious about what is missing in the "phpproject for sme" version. Guess that will be the most easy to install.
Best reg Arne.

Well apart from some of improvements in the separate modules, I need the summary, Todo - in the SME-version there's only a text line, nothing else. The mail-section seems improved in the new version. The other-section is also missing. The settings for calendar is also improved. I know some of the settings can be done in the settings files but...
Hope you can get some experiences you'll share with me. I have no experience in installing by hand in SME.
Thanks in advance.

My experience were approx the oposite ..
I tried for 20 times or so to install the e-smith variant. It did not work because I were not able to configure the database right. So in the end I gave it up and downloaded the "orginal version".
I just followed the instructions at the home page and it went stright in without a problem. Have tested for a while together with a friend tonight. Seems to be working most of the functions, exept for the e-mail ... Don't know really how it should work, (Have not tried this groupware before.
I believe that the e-smith installation and the orginal installation is so different so it can not really be a upgrade but a complete new intstallation. (Reason: Seems like the structure and the location of the files is rather different.)
By the way .. I have rather big problems concerning the removal of the e-smith rpm. If i try to upgrade or ask with a rpm -q it says that the rpm is there. If I try to remove it it just says it's not there, so I can't get it in or get it out, just something just beween asd some kind of "file garbage". Do you have any ideas how to remove the remaining of the sme rpm ?? (I don't like to know that there is som e "hidden problems" even though the other variant seems to be working.)
This page plus the faq page were the only documents I have needed so far:

Disabled the mail function as the standard Horde solution works pretty well. Everything seems to be working ok now, as far as I can see ...
The location of the files in the e-smith rpm distribution is on a very different place on the server compared with the "orginal distribution". Would believe that a removal and a new installation is required.
Have not found out completely how to remove the e-smith rpm that went in with the files but not with the database files. Have deleted the files manually, but the "virtual directory" after the installation is still there. Dont know hov to remove it.

damjan -> Yes, the link you have supplied seems to be describing the same way as I did it. One diference .. I did not use an e-bay. Dont know if this will give som future problems.

Well my installation of SME-version went on without any problems. The only "problem" is, it's not new new version.
But if you cannot uninstall - then how do you get the standard installation to work??
Well - I guess I'll to give it a try with the new version.
Thanks again.

My sme verion did not go in at all. I have thougt it over and I believe it could be because I had changed the Mysql root password. So the files went in, but not the databse. After that I could not install or remove the sme version.
The orginal version is in one way quite different. There is no rpm at all, you just download the files as a zip ond then transfer the files to the web area. Then there is a database connection wizard in the php scripts.
I just selected one other directory name so it should not get comfused with the old installation. I have mannually removed the files, but it seems to be "not completely enough"
I have looked into the http.conf file. I can se that the first sme intallation has done some "strange things" there, and with sme it is not so easy to reedit such a thing ...
I have also made some experiments with a contant management system that went not so very well on so I messd the all up a lot. Also the phproject vere mest up and stopped working, but I reinstalled it and it started to work again.
Have some small "problems" with access rights with some file directories as it all is running in the "root" of the web server area and not a e-bay. Had to run som chmod at some file folders and files.
To clean it all up completely, and as the server is rather full of "experiments" I have desided to install it all from the bottom again. This time I will use a e-bay.
By the way .. do you know some kind of content management system that will work with the e-smith ?

Tried to oppgrade phproject and php pluss to install phpwebsite half the night.
V 5.6 did not take php upgrade (4.2.x) or phpwebsite. Upgrade of phproject did not work in any way.
Made a completely new v 5.6 installation.
Have now tested phproject "sme version" and "orginal". "Orginal version" looks actually a lot bether, even though it is much the same basic functions there.
Tried to install "the orginal" to www root subdirectory and to ibay. Ibay were simplest exept for one thing .. could not get fileupload to work in any way. Used hours to find out about this, but it simply did not work.
Made in the end a new fresh installation of it all again. phproject is now running quite nicely "allone" without php upgrade and without phpwebsite after a lot of work hours. Its a lot more easy to install the sme rpm version of phproject, buth both can be done and the "orginal" is clearly bether, but bore difficult to install.
