Title: web antivirus?
Post by: William K on December 05, 2003, 01:34:13 AM
Just a quick question, I use esmith 5.6 as my gateway to the web & don't really use the mail facility at all, however I have noticed that the number of web sites that have script viruses unfortunatly have increased. I was wondering if there was a virus checker that I could install on the gateway box that would scan the incoming data over squid?
If so where is it located & if there is any how to's I would love the addresses.

Thanks very much
Will

technically they are not viruses per se.

I think some kind of content filtering may help better
(better yet get rid of M$ PC's ;)

You need to keep your browsers updated and avoid warez, porn, sites.
If you must visit such sites, then expect problems.
Most of this stuff is directed towards IE users so use another browser if possible when visiting such sites.

Yeah its actually my users I almost thought about converting to unix/linux but the only factor is games :)

Unfortunatly the users of my network haven't learnt how to read the fake or misleading links in searches. SO this has become a slight problem. Just wondered if there was anything out there thanks for the info.
