Title: Upgrading from 5.6 to 6.0b3
Post by: Gabriel Requito on December 08, 2003, 05:01:59 PM
Hi everyone,

I am trying to upgrade my sme 5.6 to 6.0b3, but when I boot from cd and after selecting "upgrade", the system hangs at "Preparing to upgrade".
I´ve seached the forum, but I´ve only found topics about problems after teh upgrade, never during it.
I´ve also tryed on other machine and it is exacly the same, so I tried with the 6.0beta2 cd and I have the same problem. Does anyone have a clue???
   Thanks in advance

   Gabriel

I have heard that the v6 REQUIRES at least 128 MB RAM and the "preparing to upgrade" sounds a lot like a disk check is being made.

Any system activity ? also what kind of MB ?

Hi Hardijs,
That's it. Low memory. Upgraded from 64M to 256M and the system upgrade went just fine.
 Thank you.
