Title: URGENT: is it possible?
Post by: Laurent DINCLAUX on January 19, 2004, 11:26:07 PM
Hello,

I have to set up an sme server for a customer. As it have somme needs, I need to know if it is possible:

- to configure firewall to block some port (as ftp) per user(local)
- to have a shared LDAP wich can contains any contact, not only local users and that will we accessed by client like M$ Outlook
- that the sme works as a domain controller but without roaming profil, the server will only check for user authentification on all win2k local workstations.

Althought what is the best antivirus solution (even commercial) to ride of all email virus.

Regards,

You can have SME as a Domain Controller, without roaming profiles, but Win2K still has it's own little profiles and settings it likes to use.

You can use Group Policy Editior built into Win2K to setup world wide settings for itself.

Type "gpedit.msc" into the "Run" part under the Start Menu.

This will give you a whole bunch of options.

If you can grab hold of the Windows Server Group Policy editor and create the config.pol file.....then you can intergrate that into the SME so you don't have to do the above command for each machine.

Sorry I can't help out much with the other things, I do know you can configure the firewall with some commands, I saw a post not to long ago (Week, maybe 2) with what to type.

Hi,

- to configure firewall to block some port (as ftp) per user(local)

Actually, there is no contribs doing that job. You must configure iptables, and modified templates.
The only contribs I know, will deny port for everybody.

- that the sme works as a domain controller but without roaming profil, the server will only check for user authentification on all win2k local workstations.

Take a look in directory : /home/e-smith/files/server-resources/regedit

I just know Clamav.
