Title: DNS and ipchains passthrough
Post by: Tim Jones on June 28, 2001, 10:06:12 AM
Has anyone tried to pass trhough port 53 successfully to allow external DNS to work without interfering with the named running on the e-smith server?  I run my own primary DNS and need to allow it to be seen by the outside world.

We'd recommend you not do so -- public DNS servers pose a serious security vulnerability.  It's best to manage your DNS through a DNS service, such as easyDNS.com, or register.com.  They're easy to use, and do not put your server and network at risk.

Hi Tim,

I have the same problem (DNS passthrough).  Any luck yet?
