Title: User Management Enhancaments
Post by: Jeff Williams on November 15, 2000, 10:15:52 PM
I found the oMail-admin project at http://omail.omnis.ch/screenshots95.shtml

This has some nice features that would be greate if implemented in a future version of e-smith.

For each user the ability to have one or more alias accounts for email.  The ability to pop an external email account(s) for this person (not in this project).

Quota management to limit the amount of diskspace as well as the maximum email size that can be sent.

I don't understand exactly what you mean here. There is already the option for users to forward their mail - currently only to a single address.

Yes, that's something I believe that we should do.

Both are on the TODO list.

Thanks for your suggestions.

What I mean I create a user jmsmi0 for jmsmi0@e-smith.com.  Email can be alse sent to them at their alias of john.smith@e-smith.com as well as senior.developer@e-smith.com.  The alias's of  john.smith and senior.developer will go to the user ID of jmsmi0.  their is only one login account into e-smit of jmsmi0.

I hope this clears up what I was looking for.

Regards

Jeff

There is a contributed module called e-smith-aliases which can
be found from the Contributed RPMs link on www.e-smith.org As it
is a contributed module, it is not supported by e-smith

Please note - aliases created with this module are not backed up or
restored. We intend to have full alias support in the product in
the future, and backup/restore will be part of this.

Yes, that does clear things up. Both features (fullname aliases, and general aliases) are available as contributed packages at present, and may become part of a future release. So I think we have a fairly good hit rate for your wishes :-)
