Title: Akopia Interchange
Post by: Geoff on November 29, 2000, 10:38:17 PM
How about a package that gets interchange running on e-smith. I have had it running on other linux machines but I am having a hell of a time getting it to run using e-smith. But then my linux skills are pretty poor.

Check out interchange at http://www.akopia.com

We are quite interested in adding shopping cart software to e-smith, and Interchange looks like a perfect fit.

I'm curious, would you want to use Interchange in conjunction with live payment processing software, or would you use a stand-alone terminal, invoicing or some other method for processing orders?

I Vote for live payment processing software, but I do not have very much experiance with web business and web payments.

i would also think live payment would be the way to go. The intended businesses that would be using interchange would be big enough that they could afford/justify using live payment. There are many smaller/simplier shopping cart scripts out there that will allow for other options. Interchange is intended for larger sites.

Hi Tony,

What level of intergration with E-Smith is being considered for Interchange?  Are you considering a simple package that configures everything correctly, or are thinking of a package that integrates fully into the E-Smith web based server management scheme?

Personally I would vote for the latter :-) ... although a correctly configured package would be good as well.

Have you found any (smaller/simpler) shopping carts that work with linux/e-smith??

I think either option would be great, the latter is probably my first choice perhaps just one rpm that integrates interchange fully into e-smith.

Ya I have found lots of great shopping cart packages that work fine with e-smith/linux. A long time ago I was using one called agora http://www.agoracgi.com which is all perl based. Lately I have been using a PHP package called TEP (the exchange project) http://theexchangeproject.org/. Another nice PHP based package is phpShop http://www.edikon.org/ . These are great for smaller websites or people just beginning to get into the e-commerce business. The PHP options will give you a lot of flexibility and options. But nothing compares to interchange
