Given that e-smith creates only 1 partition it would be very important to be able to set quotas for both individual and the home directory peroid (if that can be done).
This would eliminate the possibility of filling up the hard drive and bringing down the system. After all when the / fills nothing works, right.

Ive almost finished rewriting a contrib addon that enables quota support on e-smith 4.1 (betas). It's been rewritten to use the cpan quota module as was suggested to me, so is a little cleaner and more robust. I'll let you know when its ready.

Simply administered quotas would be great for those of us who have to administer servers in educational environments (often with little time to do so): its amazing how a few hundred secondary students can quickly fill up server space!!

Would you let us know the status of your rewriting work for quota support on e-smith 4.1? I am happy to use it once ready.
