Title: imp and imap folders disparities
Post by: bryan stalcup on May 28, 2001, 06:58:54 AM
the imap server allows folders to be created on the root level, and subfolders of those folders also.

IMP, the webmail program, only displays folders within a "Mail" folder, and doesn't support subfolders, so you can't have one "Sent Items" folder at the root level of the account for both desktop access and web access, or create a tree of folders for filing. The features supported for desktop clients like Outlook Express or Netscape Messenger are great, but IMP isn't quite inline. it should allow subfolder creation and display, as well as showing all folders in the root of the account, not just in the Mail folder.

also, i've had some weirdness with IMP where a folder that is not in the "Mail" folder has disappeared after accessing the webmail.

hope this can be easily fixed.

I've posted a fix on my HowTo page as well as available on the e-smith HowTo section:
