hi!
i thought of an automation in creating ftp-account for customers. like when they register with username and emailadress, the system will create an ftp-only ibay with their username and generate a random password which will be mailed to them. this mail should be generated from a template containing their username and password, while there's another mail being send to the admin-user as a note to review the new user.
after the user recieved the mail he should be able to access an account where there's two folders... upload and download with the corresponding permissions...
good idea?! i hope.... let's hear what you think...

Its just the sort of thing I miss. It would certainly make things easier in my company where a lot is done via FTP (Developers need to exchange files/ information)

The big issue with spawning ftp accounts as part of
the user creation process is the security risk.
Particularly externally visible ftp accounts should be
limited and consciously controlled.
I think the risk in automating ftp accounts is that
people creating accounts may forget that they are creating
ftp accounts too. Much better that they are forced to
manually create each one. Is it really so much work to
do this?
