I would like to see a Samba server manager panel that was similar in functionality to the Webmin setup. Seems like there is a lot of traffic in the forums on Samba issues and a config panel might make a lot of this discussion moot.
Just my .15 cents worth....

Samba support under SME 5.x is currently under heavy development. The next version of SME will have a turn-key Samba solution.

I suggest the server manager configuration be customized. A lot of features have been suggested but I believe Mitel, through implementation of the cool functionality, may be making the entire administrative function more complicated. As a more experienced user I desire more functionality out of the server manager so I can avoid SSH to a command line. (hassle + security) An option at the top of the list of administrative categories could state basic or advanced. The basic would not deviate from the current configuration (perhaps a bit simpler) and advanced would allow more flexibility in modifying different aspects of the system. (webmin-type - i.e., lots of intricate options advanced users would need) A design committee could decide which functionality is "advanced" perhaps by going through the general users forum. Many do not know how to configure/customize but want a functional server. Later with more experience they start to explore as enterprise needs change or are proposed.

In this same forum is a debate about advanced firewall rules/config. This is a good example of what the advanced/basic option (checkbox or other) could provide: a solution for all. In basic mode the settings are default vs. advanced where they are modifiable. A warning that advanced mode is for advanced users only and that a backup should be made before changing anything about which the user is unsure could be placed in a pop-up or something when the checkbox is selected. The selection could be saved as a cookie to avoid the pop-up and show the desired level of detail each time the administrator returns to the server manager.
