Title: Monitoring
Post by: John on February 12, 2002, 03:27:51 PM
A VERY handy tool which isnt included in e-smith is network monitoring. I need to track bandwidth used from each client inorder to count costs for each user. If it was included it would be a huge help, if that isnt possible, a simple bandwidth meter which can be accessed through the server-manager would be very usefull.

For monitoring of hdd usage, memory, swap, cpu and network bandwidth you can't go wrong with Jaime Nebrera's E-Smith Monitor package, check it out here (http://modesmith.dogbox.homeip.net/).

Yes thats a usefull tool, however I was looking for more detailed network monitoring. As in data send from every client is recorded, so i can put $ value estimates on data useage from each service. ie from samba, from the masq service from individual ip'sGary Parker wrote:

I know this post is rather old, but the utility you are looking for is called:
IPAC (Ip Accounting), it has support for .png graphcs and can isolate protocol information.
