Title: Raid 5
Post by: Mattias Hult on March 10, 2002, 01:58:15 AM
Software raid 5 would be great! It gives some protection against hard drive failure, and allows for huge storage. Hardware raid is way too expensive.

That's what I also would like to see..a simple setup of softraid 5!
But it is possible with the raidtools package they deliver.
But I also wnat to see more RAID controllers supported :-)
So that it can really be a nice Internet server with redundancy.

Why not use hardware Raid 5 it is more reliable.  Some of SME info I have read makes this point and said there was no intention to support software Raid 5.
