Any web server theese days have php and mysql installed to run the new web portals or photo album.

SME comes with both PHP and MySQL installed by default.  PHP has to be turned on in ibays as a security precaution, but other than that, both are present and accounted for.

checkout gallery.sourceforge.net - The program there is nice and as long as you have PHP enabled it will work just like it should. Easy to configure and loads of options etc...
