servers DO NOT NEED GUIs
u want GUI, buy windows

thankfully there is   the mc command which invokes midnight commander for moving files around etc.... makes an easy to use file manager, not quite as nice as windows explorer but  better than the command lne method for us gooey people!

The one thing that I've found missing is a a logout button. If you admining the remotely via the gooey (GUI LOL) there is no logout button to expire your password.

Since the server-manager doesn't retain your password, it can't expire it.
We use http basic authentication, and your browser is retaining the password
so that you don't have to retype it for every page load. Exiting the browser
will make the browser forget it for all browsers I'm familiar with; yours might
also have a way to forget basic-auth credentials for a specific site, but you'd
have to check your browser documentation.

Why slow down a perfectly great server with goo? I can administer from my workstation browser if I need something burdened with all the graphics goo.

Ian, have you used the web-based management tool? I've only been using SME server for a short time and I've fallen in love with it -- it's simple install, powerful features, and web-based management in particular. I'm familiar enough with Linux to get around at the command prompt if need be but so far I've been able to do all my routine admin work via the web interface. Is there something you don't like about it or that you're not able to do with it?
