Title: a panel or script to add/import many hostnames and IP addres
Post by: David Trask on July 04, 2002, 10:45:06 AM
Hi all,

I've got a challenge.  One thing I've always wanted in the E-Smith web panels is a way to add static IP's in mass.  What I need to be able to do is to be able to assign many hostnames and IP addresses in the "hostnames" panel....several schools in my area have expressed that they want to be able to enter all their machines for tracking purposes.  This is a difficult task when doing it one by one in the hostnames panel.  What I'd like to be able to do is import a whole bunch from a text file either via a panel or using the command line.  Is anyone up to the task of writing a script or a panel to do this...or can anyone tell me how I can do this using the command line?

Actually, I suppose I should clarify.  This allows you to create a text file, then do a "batch create" from the command line.  I haven't done the server-manager integration yet.

It's still a god-send...thanks...let me know if you get a panel integrated.
