I wish for a more informative console screen. It need not be bitmapped, an ncurses (blocks & alphanumerics-type) display would be fine.
On it I would like the uptime, number of clients connected, status of the network connections, incoming & outgoing network traffic, cpu load, disk space, and and any error messages.
I'd like the reports to include historical information over various periods of time. These could be shown as bar-graphs or better yet as a right to left scrolling chart with various symbols for the different values.
I presume there is already something of this sort out there but I haven't come across such yet. It would seem a valuable addition to the server's Administrator-friendliness and a better use of an attached monitor then a static screen.
For the web-page I'd ask for the exact same information (indeed the exact same screen) simply rendered as a once-a-minute snapshot on a javascript-updated page.
Example (no analysis, just a mockup, only looks sensible in a monospaced typeface):
[Uptime:] 012 Days 14 Hours 22 minutes [CPU Load:] 02% [Logged-In Users:] 011
[Server Inbound Traffic:] 02.15/MB Sec. [Server Outbound Traffic:] 01.2/MB Sec
[Internet Inbound Traffic:] 01.4 MB/Sec. [Internet Outbound Traffic:] 00.6/MB Sec
