Title: Several SME servers - single administration
Post by: Jesper Bille Haun on March 14, 2003, 01:16:19 AM
I would like to build a network with several SME servers. I would like to divide the tasks between the servers (one server as webserver, another as FTP server and so on). But I would like to have all administration at one server. I mean create or change a user only once - and have him automatically created or changed at all servers.

Is this possible? Or would it require a major change inside SME?

It is pretty simple to stop unneeded services at individual SME servers. And it is pretty simple to direct trafic to individual SME servers by port forwarding. But how do I do user administration? Application settings should also be updated at all servers.

load-balancing ,clustering  , server-farming etc.. I think a simple domain setup will do.  Making one sme as a PDC (can use RH also for appditional rpm needs) or if not have a separate PDC .
