Title: Update System Contrib
Post by: Chris on May 07, 2003, 09:45:42 PM
Hello,

I am just building a 5.6ver of the server and i am having trouble with the Update system Contrib.

The funny thing is that when you use the rpm -Uvh command it looks to install, there are no errors etc. but there is nothing in the server manager console for it.

Have i missed something?

i am using  'devinfo-mitel-update-system-0.0.1-14.noarch.rpm' and the command rpm -Uvh devinfo-mitel-update-system-0.0.1-14.noarch.rpm

Thanks.

The Wish List isn't really the place to ask for help on a third-party addon...

Try "rpm -q devinfo-mitel-update-system" to see if it's actually installed.

You don't have an "Update system" link under the Administration heading in Server Manager? /server-manager/cgi-bin/updates is the link to the page. If that works, perhaps something is screwed up and the panel info for it didn't get installed... Have you tried removing and reinstalling it?

Very sorry every one, i was searching the forum and after i could not find the answer i started a new thread.

I must have been in the wish list.

Dont hit me please i'll cry!

As for the problem i tried to go directly to the page its self and yes it was there.

/server-manger/cgi-bin/updates

something must have go wrong with the install, i am upgradeing the server in teh near future and i will see if it does it on that one. untill then i will either grab out dreamweaver and put the link in there myself or just bookmark it.

Thanks for you help and sorry again for putting it in the wrong forum

"rpm -ql devinfo-mitel-update-system" will list the installed files. You should have the actual script in /etc/e-smith/web/functions/ and a link to that in /etc/e-smith/web/panels/manager/cgi-bin/.

Dreamweaver won't help you, as the Server Manager pages are generated via scripts. Just take two minutes and remove and reinstall it, and see if that fixes it. For some reason, the install seems to have messed up...

Ok i have just got the parts i needed for the new server and i have installed a new copy of SME5.6 on it and it has done the same thing.

>"rpm -ql devinfo-mitel-update-system" will list the installed files.
/etc/e-smith
/etc/e-smith/events
/etc/e-smith/events/actions
/etc/e-smith/events/actions/update-rpm-system
/etc/e-smith/events/actions/update-system-removepkg
/etc/e-smith/events/actions/update-upd-system
/etc/e-smith/events/update-rpm-system
/etc/e-smith/events/update-rpm-system/S10update-rpm-system
/etc/e-smith/events/update-system-removepkg
/etc/e-smith/events/update-system-removepkg/S10update-system-removepkg
/etc/e-smith/events/update-upd-system
/etc/e-smith/events/update-upd-system/S10update-upd-system
/etc/e-smith/web
/etc/e-smith/web/functions
/etc/e-smith/web/functions/updates
/etc/e-smith/web/panels
/etc/e-smith/web/panels/manager
/etc/e-smith/web/panels/manager/cgi-bin
/etc/e-smith/web/panels/manager/cgi-bin/updates

here is the output of the rpm

>You should have the actual script in /etc/e-smith/web/functions/

Yes that is there

>and a link to that in /etc/e-smith/web/panels/manager/cgi-bin/.

Yes that is there as well but there is still nothing in the server-manager page.

BTW it does work. if i link to it directly, i installed all of the other rpms though it.
One doesnt work. e-smith-loginscript-0.1-1.noarch.rpm has an confict with samba, do you know anything  about that or should i start a new thread (in the right place)

I removed it and reinstalled it in both old and new servers and it works but is not sowing up in the server-manager page.
