Title: 2 Wan interface and 1 Lan
Post by: Sylvan on June 10, 2003, 06:03:03 AM
I know it;s a dream setup but I would really like to get a second Wan interface to connect to our backup ISP. I am really happy with Mitel SME Server and gateway but only one Wan is kind of limitation in many corporate environment. I look at many distro and none do that.

Thank you

Sylvain

This would be nice; implemented via accounting (metric) settings in the route table so the primary interface is defined as the least cost route and the backup interface would only be used if the primary was down or the traffic was very heavy.

Another nice idea would be a dedicated DMZ interface on its only NIC just like products such as Checkpoint use.

I have recently seen cheap routers with redundant WAN ports (2 wan + 1 lan).
Just as you dreamed.
