Title: Backup to removable harddrive ?
Post by: Damien Ryan on July 20, 2003, 10:53:35 AM
What about a system to back up to a removable harddrive
(over USB so you don't have to switch the server off ?)

Get around using tape drives and take advantage of cheap harddrives ;-)

Look at backup2ws at contribs.org, see Darrell May, although this is to a workstation share ir could possibly be modified for your suggested use.

Check out a similar product called the Net Integrator.  It does Incremental Hard Disk Backup (IDB), as well as raid.

There is NO FREE VERSION for this Net Integrator, but if you need IDB, then this will do it, but not to a USB drive.

It would be nice if e-smith did IDB.

An rsync script as a Cron job will do the trick.
