 Hi Folks. I have a 5.5 server and gateway running with some of dungog's add-ins. I would like to upgrade to 6.0, but want to know just how to do that. Do I download 5.6 and 6.0 latest versions, burn to CD, then boot CD for 5.6 to upgrade to 5.6? Then same thing for 6.0?
Is the an upgrade How-to somewhere?
Thanks, Jim Darrough

I would upgrade to 5.6 then to 6.0. I am working late again because I updated 5.5 straight to 6.0 and my server died. Domains got lost, mail got lost, lost connection to internet....etc. Good thing I had a backup. So I am stuck here, reloading 5.5 with all the updates to get the server to the state that it was in so I can restore the backup from workstation, which I may add, has saved my butt. Thanks Darrell! To upgrade to 5.6 then to 6.0, so I dont have any broken components in my server.

I tried to install a newer SME version on a different computer, but couldn't get it to work. Here's what I did:
Installed new version of SME on different computer with the same IP address (I shut down the original server first).
Brought up the new machine and tried to restore from the desktop copy I made before shutting down the original.
Nothing happened. It seemed to accept the command at the Manager GUI window for the new machine; it let me select the backup to restore, but nothing happened.
Any ideas? Do I need to worry about MAC addresses?
Thanks again, Jim Darrough
BTW: I did upgrade the original server to 5.6 with no ill effects. I want to upgrade to version 6.0 on a completely new machine.

Ihave an 5.5 SME Server that wont't boot, then I saw, that the 6.0 version is out.
Can I just upgrade my 5.5 to 6.0?

I have been searching a howto for upgrading from SME 5.0 to 6.0 without any luck in this forum.
Can anyone share their experience?
