Title: web server
Post by: Ralph on January 20, 2004, 03:08:54 PM
I have tried to search the forums, and have found very little.

I have read the manual section on virtul domains.

It appears that once they are set up on my SME 6.0 box, and the name is registered with a domain name service, I only need to point that name to my ip, and SME should take care of pointing it to proper ibay.
If it is all I am supposed to do, it is not working. When I try to access the domain, I see the page of my primary ibay. Is there something else I need to do? Need a push in the right direction.

Thanks

Ralph

When you setup the virtual domain you need to set it during that time to use the ibay you want I use a easy way to keep track

123.com uses 123 ibay

next your dns whoever it is has to have the host name record and ip address

www.123.com = ip address    ie: 111.111.111.111

I use zone edit it is easy to use and free for up to 5 domain names but you can have many host names under each domain

system = sme 6.0   cable internet    zoneedit   sometime I use the sme server as a gateway/server or server only and a linksys broadband router - keeps some of the load off of the server

hope this helps a little

I have done that, but I still get the same results. When I call up my virtual domain, I get the primary ibay on my server, not the ibay of the domain I want. Is there something else I have to do?

Thanks

Hi,

You can change that with the option "Domain" in your server-manager.
In this option you have simply to change the ibay where you want your domain to point to.

Did a little checking, and found my problem. I had set the address type at my registrar as url frame. Should have been jus an address. All is well now

Thanks to all
