Title: Creating a 5.6 boot disk AFTER install
Post by: ctrlbreak on January 22, 2004, 09:36:26 AM
Hi,

I'm trying to upgrade my 5.6 server to a new HD. I've done this before by cloning and enlarging the disk with partition magic, then booting from the boot disk and running lilo.

Unfortunately I've just moved house and can't find my 5.6 boot disk. I tried with a 5.5 disk, but obviously the kernel and many other things have changed, so this doesn't work (it can't mount ext3 as far as I can tell).

So, my question is: how can I create a 5.6 boot disk so that I can boot my server on the new hard disk and run lilo. Or, are there any alternatives?

Thanks in advance...

There is an option in the server-manager to create such a disk.
