Post by: TDB ??? on January 24, 2004, 06:05:26 AM
Is anyone else having problems registering ??

I have tried several times with no sucess.

First time I got an error about xoops which I cut and pasted to this forum but I can no longer see any mention of the post after the first hour can only assume it was removed?

Sent an email to staff@contribs.org but no reply?

Tried registering using another user Id system just says at the end that it cant register???

I do not know, whether it is related, but
I had similar experience with Opera 7.23.
Made a bug raport http://no.longer.valid/mantis/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=0000020

Pls give us more details.
As far as I know, no posts were removed.

- Browser you are using.
- Type of error ( where in the procedure ).
- Anything that can help locating issue ... !

Thanks,

Hervé

I posted the message in this forum on Wed 21/1 Western Australian time +8 hours after posting I viewed the message.  Next day when I view and search for message to see responce but no message.

IE 6 with all patches applied O/S is W2K with all updates and service packs applied.  Server is SME Server of cause version 6 beta.

Original error message was about xoops but as I cut and pasted it to the bug forum I did not print.  Therefor can't give you the details.

I originally tried to register as TDB which gave the xoops error.  I tried to register this name twice with no success.  I got to the final page then the system responds with can't register.

I tried to the system to send the password to my email address but I get and error message of no corresponding user on file message.

Later I tried to register as TrevorDB and tdbsoft but both go through to the last page then click the finish button and I get the error message cannot register that user.

Even tried new user name and different email address same error.

Really would like to register.

Thanks for you help

I'am currently using a testaccount I just created.
Also created from IE6, confirmation mail received within 5 minutes... .

I guess you may have a problem with your local machine. I would suggest to erase all files in the local IE cache, and try again.

Hervé.

No finally found the problem it was to do with Norton Internet Security or Norton Antivirus.  I disabled both then registered and all went throught Ok.

Guess it might be an idea to add a note to the top of the registration form do try this if registration fails.  As might save others from similar frustations when registering.

Thanks

Although I personally understand your 'problem' the policy of contribs.org is to provide 'industy standard' compliance.

Otherwise we would be needing a world-helpdesk for all different installations, versions, installed apps etc. ;-)

But then again, these forums provide their usefullness.

Not a problem but hard to get answer when messages are removed and email not even acknownledged.

As Norton Internet Security and Norton Antivirus are common programs it might help to add a note/help on possible problems with registering.

Please dont mis-understand I realise that this is a newly updated site run by volenteers and I commend you and the others that have setup such a great site for the users.
