I have e-smith 4.0 running IMP every thing is fine with the server but I have 300+ usernames and Password in a old netscape server. I would like to run the script create-user and input all the username and password (or at least the user names). I did read all the entries about this, but I lack of enough knowlegde to do this.
thanks in advance

You Should use IMP ldap capabilities to import ldap data from netscape, previously you will have to export your address book from netscape in ldap format.

thanks for your prompt reply Alejandro
I have IMP 2.2.4 and I do not how to import the file ( i do not see how). I have the ldif file from the netscape server. Now the way I want to Approach this is by input all the users into the e-smith server tru a batch processing. I think I saw and entry where you(alejandro), Ashley and Scott where doing this but with ibays I can do single entry with that part of the code but I lack of the program expertise to finish that to do batch processing. Others have done similar things but I am missing some more code. I tried to find how to do it but I spent one week on this.(here they problably thinking that this free stuff it is not free since it is taking to long to fig. this out).
Thanks Again Alejandro

Alejandro:
Sorry, I certainly missunderstood your original question.
I'm not sure if what you want can be easily done, but probably I would give another chance to the reinstalation process to see were user information is stored.

User acount info is stored in "/home/e-smith/accounts" file, if one can make a script that reads data from ldif file and writes to accounts file ..... but I really dont know if modifying this file will be enough.... or even harmless to the normal function of e-smith,
what I do agree is that this whould be really a very usefull utility cause most of e-smith implementation time is spent in user and account data input, and it makes no sense typing again all this info if you already have it in some other application like db or similar.
I will keep studying.
