im confused as to which sme6 is correct!
(sorry about the long details)
on a cd of SME6 I BURNT A WHILE AGO are the following
1. apache-1.3.27-2.i386 539kb 11/12/2002
2. bind-utils-9.2.1-1.7x.2.i386 607kb 07/19/2002
3. no bind rpm
4. a set of aspell rpms
5. the cd is titled 'SME Server v6.0'
on a cd of SME6 I JUST BURNED from the iso on contrib.org the
equivalent to the above are....
1. apache-1.3.23-14es1.i386
2. bind-utils-9.2.1-1.7x.2.i386 607kb 10/18/2002
3. a bind-9.2.1-1.7x.2.i386 1730kb 10/18/2002
4. no set of aspell rpms.
5. the cd is titled 'SME Server v5.6'
what is right?
a. how does the first get by without the bind.rpm
b. how come apache seems to have gone backwards
c. is aspell significant (presumably not)
d. is the titling a mistake
hoping for guidance as to which to use,
and maybe help by poiting out something thats been missed.
kind regards Rob :pint:

If you check the changelog for releases you will find that bind has been replaced in version 6.0 with tinydns.
You may also notice that since its a server oriented distro, where is no windows (X or M$), word processors, games and spellcheckers and other desktop accessories.
Yes your labeling is mistake. Second CD should be named SME 5.6
Does version of apache-1.3.27-2 from apache-1.3.23-14 look backward to you?

thanks for comments Boris, BUT
YES IT DOES LOOK BACKWARDS!
My posting says the the OLDer CD (listed first)
had the newer apache, and no bind (for reasons u said).
But the NEWer CD has the older apache and bind!
Hence my confusion!
kind regards Rob
ps cant this forum email posts to this thread to me?
(like phorum used to do?): I cant seem to find any such option.

You've simply burned older CD (version 5.6) second and still confused which one is newer.
If you want the newer version use first CD (version 6.0)

thanks Boris!
I figured I would use as you say.
Strange thing is though Im sure I got the 'recent 6.0'
from contrib.org! Oh well waste no more time on it -
thanks again Robert
