Title: Out of office - Possible with SME?
Post by: NickCritten on January 28, 2004, 04:27:41 PM
Hello all,

I'm sure that I have read somewhere that it is possible to set up SME to send Out of office responces.

Maybe its my Alcohol and Caffine fuddled brain but I was even sure I'd seen the option in the webmail interface somewhere but I cannot find it now and I cannot find any material on the subject; neither in the forums, the manual nor elsewhere.

Can anyone help?

Cheers!

Nick

In user-manager there is a Vacation Message option that can be used for what you want.

Thanks Bob, but I Can't find it....

should it be under:
http://servername/user-manager
?

As this page doesn't exist on my server.

BTW are there any other management pages on the SME server?

The only Pages I know about are:
http://servername/user-password
http://servername/server-manager
http://servername/webmail

Cheers,
Nick

I use the vacation module in the horde/imp webmail.  Very slick, it allows users to start/stop the vacation(out of office) message and customize it.  We use webmail 100% of the time, so having it built in is much easier for us.  Plus the user-manager doesn't allow outside access--the majority of our users aren't in the local office.  On SME 6.0 I had to alter the FTP access slightly for it to work--not a security issue for me, FTP is local only and the vacation module uses FTP on itself(localhost).  If someone wants to take a look at it, just let me know.  I'll create a 'test' account so you can take a look.

Hordeusr,
Can you please post instructions on how to add the vacation module? I would very much like to add this feature to imp for access by users when they are on the road.

Thanks
