Hi - just wanted to say there's lots of Windows guys out here. Hang in there! SME will do fine.
You'll probably end up needing to use the console once in a while, though. If you install WinSCP you can cut that down a bit.

Thanks for the warm welcome...
whats winscp?

"WinSCP is an open source SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol) and SCP (Secure CoPy) client for Windows using SSH (Secure SHell)." http://winscp.sourceforge.net/eng/
I only use Putty (http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/) for command shell, which I think comes bundled with WinSCP, instead of telnet and only WinSCP (SCP) to transfer files instead of FTP. I've turned off telnet and FTP services completely on my SME box.

Exactly. You can browse the files/folders on SME pretty much like Explorer - see where things are.
Another way to do this is to log on to the console and type "mc" - this will launch "Midnight Commander" on the SME box, similar to the old DOSSHELL or Norton COmmander. You can do this through Mindterm, (or Putty, I guess), or at the server, and use the mouse. If you go to the "Left" menu and choose "Tree", then hit the "F4" key, it'll act sortof like Explorer (single-click to navigate, dbl-click to see the folder contents on the right).
There's a nice tutorial for MC here:
