Title: bug in the forum
Post by: RavenIV on January 31, 2004, 01:59:20 AM
hello developers of the new contribs-forum

there is an annoying bug in the new forum.
i'm a registered user and do a login.
when i've read all posts in the forum, i press the link "mark all topics read".
after that, all posts are marked as read and have a "white icon". when i'm finished i close the browser-window without a logout.
when i log in the next day, all old topics (newer than one week) have again the "yellow icon".
first i thought, that this is an option, but found nothing to be configured.

so my question:
is this intended or is it a bug?

cheers klaus

something i've noticed:
if i logout and immediate login, the "old topics" are marked with a "white icon" and only real new topics have the "yellow icon".

very strange.

You are right,

Guess it might be related to : http://no.longer.valid/mantis/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=0000019 because of the 'virtual' logout it may create.

Sorry for inconvenience.

it is not the same bug and is not related.

but i've notived the following:
when i do a logoff today, and login tomorrow, then only the "real" new topics are marked with the yellow sign.

Yes, exactly. Doing logout manually, you bypass the session handling problem. If you don't make a manual logout, then you will have the error in the forum.

We have to test further, but I think PHP upgrade *should* solve issue ... ?

Thanks for the feedback,

Hervé

Who I am logged in as keeps changing.  For example, I am logged in as SoundSailor and have complete access to the profile, but That is not what I orginally logged in as.  Earlier I was Tcarrol, logged out and signed in as me and no I'm SoundSailor.

I found that if I click on Contact Us, it changes who I am logged in as to SoundSailer.

And I AM SoundSailor and I keep getting logged in as someone else.

The problem seems to have been resolved, my login stays correct now.
