Title: How to find my posts ?
Post by: gbentley on January 31, 2004, 10:22:04 AM
When it was Phorum I could type in my own user name (which I was forced to change) and look at articles
I had posted and relied on for certain information.

Now in phpbb I type in an one of my 3 user names and get nothing.

Seems like a downgrade to me !

Any suggestions ?

I am getting really mad now. the new search facility stinks !

I know have to untick several boxes (why would I want to do a word search in 'Screenshots' ???) How about having just Forums ticked initially (thats where most people are searching I think ?) and shouldnt it be availabe at the top level of the forum ie SEARCH FORUM !!

I have tried in vain to give the search facility words which I think are related to articles I posted and it gives very few results.

Bring back Phorum !!!

gbentley,

To find your posts, go to your profile by clicking on your user name at the top of the page where it says "You are logged in as "USERNAME". Your most resent posts will be displayed. Click on the "Show All" link to see all your posts.

Well, that is part of the problem.

I used to post to Phorum as Graham, GrahamB and Orby.

On the change to PhpBB someone took the name Graham so I created gbentley as my username - so I can see those posts - but the search facility cant find any of the posts from way back when I enter a search on my previous usernames.

I suspect the new version cant find text in the posters ID field, only in the body of the post.

This seems to be the way things are and I am having a hard time trying to remember exactly what words to serach on.

For example - I want to delay the outgoing mail handshake until the specified dial up time.

I found this information easily in the past and also posted on it. I have tried : -

defer delay mail delivery

and so on to no avail.

Graham

Cant see a 'Show All' link at this end ??

Just did a search for Graham at the search site - and found a whole stack of previous posts from both the author and the body.

And that is exactly my point - what you are searching on and mainly getting results on is the 'other' Graham (the new one) - not the old Graham (me) GrahamB, or Orby.

I didnt sign my posts that often so theres not many occurances of my previous usernames appearing in the bodies of posts - therefore I am stuffed !

I will now have to re-ask some questions but I suspect that alot of work has already gone into this (sorry for being negative - it was early and I had a headache) so in future not only will I sign my posts but will be able to find previous ones by my new username.

Thanks for replying anyways, somtimes its nice to know someone listens / talks to you :)

But surely you can find your previuos postings by searching for the content you posted not only your user name !

Mats - I tried the below and many other combinations but alas cant find the article I wanted. I dare say it may even not be relevent anymore as things have changed since 5.6 and the mod may even cause probs ?

If anyone knows how to defer mail until handshake could you let me (the forum) know ?

That is if I get outgoing mail working again after install SA :(

Try searching for "concurrencyremote".  Then try clicking on the "Show all results" link.  There are quite a few examples and I believe some of them talk about getting it working on newer versions of SME.
